Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, better known as Ari Lennox, is an American music producer and vocalist from Washington, D.C., who was the first woman to join J. Cole's Dreamville Records record label. She released her first EP from the label on October 21st, 2016, titled Pho. This is when she gained recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music via the internet in 2012, as she launched her debut mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. In 2014, she continued to share her music over the internet, including her independently launched single Bound. The song was included in Omen's Elephant Eyes and in Sweat It Out in July 21st, 2015. J. Cole asked her to collaborate with him for Rihanna's reference. Then, later in the season, the music circulated around Dreamville. The day after Christmas, she confirmed that she had been signed to Dreamville Records. She made an appearance on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II featuring the track Backseat Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016, she debuted her first EP entitled Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act in support of J. Cole on his song Change in 2017 and also performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. In 2018 she went on to guest feature on two of her songs along with labelmates EarthGang with Nothing but the Best and Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox debuted her first single from Shea Butter Baby, Whipped Cream on 16 July 2018. A music video later released in September. The 9th of November saw her release two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. On November 13 the singer released two new singles titled The No One or Pdigree. Shea Butter Baby was released as her first single on the 26th of February in 2019, to accompany the album Creed II. Shea Butter Baby performed along with Cole for The Creed II sound track on November 16. It was released with a music video in February 20, 2019, and it surpassed 3 million views on YouTube within its first seven days. In December 2018 she performed on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour featuring 6LACK.
